These are three different types of internet infrastructure commonly used by UK businesses.
FTTP (Fibre to the Premises)
FTTP uses full fibre optic cabling directly to your premises. It offers the fastest and most reliable business broadband connection with lower latency and speeds up to 900Mb or higher. It is ideal for cloud communications, VoIP phone systems, video conferencing and growing businesses.
FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet)
FTTC uses fibre optic cabling to the local street cabinet, then copper wiring into your building. It is faster than traditional ADSL but can still suffer speed drops depending on distance from the cabinet.
Ethernet Leased Lines
Ethernet provides a dedicated uncontended connection directly for your business. Unlike shared broadband, bandwidth is reserved specifically for you, making it ideal for businesses that cannot afford downtime or inconsistent speeds.
Businesses often move from FTTC to FTTP or Ethernet as their reliance on cloud systems, hosted telephony and remote working increases.
